In the first is a picture of The Journal of Propaganda and Decorative Arts on my first variation of bookshelves. This journal has both a back and side texture as well as front while the other two have back and front due to their width.
I used scratch to create a basic script that meant my bookshelves followed the nearest avatar so that they would replicate this encasing nature of the pods.

Texture with offset filter and source image taken from NICAI front desk.
In this offset I ended up selecting piece of wood and bringing them across the offset borders to mimic the way the wooden planks were laid out. I then used the eraser on a low opacity, the burn tool and the healing brush to clean it up.

Here are our pods with steel applied in individually tweaked textures to create difference and realism. The bottom one is of the stairs and a new wooden texture yet to be tweaked.

New texture with low shine in multiple lighting conditions
I personally like the way the original texture has been abstracted to such an extent that is no longer looks like brushed steel with finger marks and dirt and now looks like polished concrete with slight imperfections.
